Default Why should I buy Ford, instead of Toyota ?

Honestly, I had been strongly considering (in fact, had just about made up my mind) of buying a Toyota Tundra. I still think it's probably a really nice truck.

But starting to get tired of being jacked around by the Toyota sales people.

Yes, I'm being nitpicky about the "exact" truck that I want. I'm paying cash.... a lot of it.... and plan to drive this truck for 15 years until the wheels fall off. Resale will mean nothing for me. So, this truck has to be ALL me ! The color (for my styling idea) is critical. It also MUST be blacked out (no chrome) which Toyota just can't seem to accomplish, at any price !

So, today I went to the Ford dealership, and NOTHING seemed to be a problem. Granted, they still will have to order my truck, but they promised only 4 to 6 weeks (Toyota was 8 to 12 weeks) and having it blacked out wasn't a problem either.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, theirs my own reasons so far. Do any of you guys have an opinion on Toyota's ?
Thank you,
Fish
PS, I sure love that Ford Stone Green paint..... even though I can't see a hint of green in it :-)
If I had the choice, I would take the Yota. Hands down.
Ford quality is as good or better than a Toyota now. Ford has been building full sized trucks for many many years so they are good at it. Ford frames are stronger. More ppl are willing to work on the Ford if you have a problem. Ford is American and right now we need all the American economy boost we can get. The Ford has more interior room. The Ford (depending on the package) has a higher payload and towing capacity. The Fords are easier to find mods for if you are into that. The Fords look better. The Fords don't force you into a package you can get exactly what you want.
Toyota does offer a more powerful motor, but IMO they have not proven themselves. That is all I can think of that beats the Ford.
Go to Youtube and watch "The Truth About Trucks". They go through every aspect of the truck and tell you what's better and why.
Hope this helps. Enjoy your new Ford once you get it.
I have had ford trucks all my life (one dodge but wasnt as good a truck). I ordered one spec by spec from the factory and was told the same thing 4-6 weeks. I got it exactly as ordered in just under 4 weeks! I currently have a 2000 f 150 4x4 with a 5.4. It is the best driving and pulling truck I have ever had. I recomenend switching from standard tires to something like BF goodrich TA. the stiffer sidewall makes for much better cornering. Good luck with your new truck!
I recently read a review of the Tundra and it compared it to other full size P/U's, Ford, Chevy and Nissan. (no Dodge) The Tundra won in acceleration but was last in every other comparison. (slalom, lateral g's and braking) The article also complained about the tranny, cheap interior surfaces and a flimsy tailgate. The F-150 won the slalom and braking and has one of the best interiors in any truck.
The Tundra is overpriced and cant match the F-150 in terms of toughness, durability and capability.
Go to any Toyota truck forum and you will read thread after thread of people who complain about the flimsy tailgate that bends easily and the transmission that rumbles when it shifts. Not to mention the fact that Toyota is having issues with the transmission failing on the Tundras.
I used to be pretty big into Toyotas and I'll tell you from personal experience, Toyota's reliability reputation is nothing more than a bunch of marketing hype.
The F-150 has been the best-selling truck in America for so long for a reason: because its the best full-size truck on the market.
The 06 and older tundras had great reliability but the new ones are not getting good reviews with their new 5.7 engine. They have a bedbounce problem and they sway when towing. Have you looked at the 09 f-150s yet, It might be worth your wait to order one in a couple months? With the economy where it's at, Ford will most likely be selling them at very comparable prices to the 08s. It will be a new body style on a stronger quieter frame. New interior,longer leafs, and some new trailer and traction control options. Ford also extended the length of their crew cab by 6". Their 5.4 engine may not have as much hp as a tundra 5.7, but its more reliable and has a chasis to back it up. I have not had any problems with my 04 lariat and plan on driving it for at least 3-4 more years.
