Default Had an interesting experience this morning....

Decided to go down to the local Ford dealers and see what they could do for me. I personally like the look of the new F150's. I also like the small wing doors to access the extra space beind the seats on the regular cab.

But here's what I REALLY liked !!! >>> I sat down with the guy and told him, "I want a truck built just for me". "Alright" he said, "Here's the base price for an F150 XLT. Now, what would you like it to have ? Cruise control > check. Power windows and door locks > check. How much are the captains bucket seats and center console.... Only $240 ? > check. Oh, but I don't wan't any chrome..... No problem, he tells me. Chrome is an option which costs a few bucks more. Blacked out is not only standard, but its cheaper for you. Cd player > check. Fog lamps... how much ? Only $100 > check.
Anyway, their were several other things, that after inquiring about the price, I added those to.

But to make a long story short, "EVERY single option I wanted was totally available, AND they didn't try to sell me one single thing I didn't want !

THIS IS HOW BUSINESS SHOULD BE DONE !!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So then a couple of my mechanic buddies tell me I should get the Toyota.... and now I'm pulling my hair out.
But no matter what I get, Ford deserves a hats off for personalized service, and attention ! In this department, Toyota needs to get a freaking clue.....
Peace,
Fish
Default Okay :-)
Not just a little bit opinionated are you ? ;-)
Honestly, I think I'd like to get one of each right now, so I could decide for myself ! It's just that I think the Ford would be MUCH easier to acquire....
Peace,
Fish
Personally I love the look of these new body style Fords, IMO there isn't anything on the road that can touch them. I've never driven a Toyota, but from what I hear they have a pretty good engine. With the right mods you can certainly make these Fords do anything you want them to. I love my F150 and could never see myself trading it in for anything other than an F250.
When I was deciding on wich truck to buy, It was between an fx4 and a lariat. The lariat package was cheaper because all of the goodies are standard on it where the fx4, you keep adding to the price of the truck for the extra stuff. I liked the wheels better on the fx4 and the limited slip. Do you like the FX4 model? They look really sharp in black and they are pretty much all blacked out and have all of the options you are after. I have had very good luck with ford and their dealerships. Ford has a lot to offer and if they are offering you good service from the start, I don't think you can go wrong. 2008 is the 5th year of the current f-150 body style. They have had a few little glitches here and there but no real issues. Ford has all of the bugs out of this model. Toyota tundra 4X4 is only in its second year and is at the bottom in consumer reports reliability for the 1/2 ton truck class. If it were up to my mechanic buddies, I would be driving a chevy or a Dodge. Not a chance!!
Morning Fish,
I read your other post and then had to find this one before I decided to throw in my own 2 cents worth.
I am glad to hear that you are going to get the truck that you want. That is going to be great. I don't know if they still do it, but at one time, they used to add a plate on the interior of your vehicle. Normally put on the glove box door, "Made to order for <<insert customer name here>>". That would be way cool!
If going fast is what sells the truck to you? Why not get a corvette? They go faster than your average F-150...
Until Ford is bought out by Yoda, you will not see me in one of their vehicles. Yes I am biased to purchase North American. I don't care if Yoda's manufacturing plant is here or not. I will buy their TV's, cameras and other electronic do-dads, but not their vehicle. Does this mean that I am predijuced? (gawd... I can't even spell...)
Default Thanks guys :-)
The decision to go with a Ford has become the easy one. The tough thing, is figuring out what to do about wheels !
Peace,
Fish
