Up here at altitude, we get 85, 87, and 90? octane.

But when you're at 6,000+ feet the thin air means you need less detonation resistance in your engine.

Wow ! That's all ? There is a guy on here says he gets 36 mpg from his egoboost.

Pretty sure he isn't.

Maybe later model 3.5L Ecoboost engines can use E85, but the owners manual for my 2014 3.5L Ecoboost, says to absolutely avoid any fuel that has over 10% ethanol.

The Owners Manual for my 2014 Ecoboost says to never use 85 octane gas even in Rocky Mountain states that sell it. Always use at least 87 octane.

I generally use 87 octane gasoline in my 2014 Ecoboost. However, I will probably switch to premium gas this summer when I plan to tour Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, and South Dakota.

E85 is 85% corn alcohol, not 85 octane

This is true, I did it while towing. It runs OK, tows OK, but gets really hot due to the low octane, especially if using an 87 tow tune. The reason I did was the 89 octane "Premium" was out of service.

I know E85 is 85% alcohol. Wasn't talking about E85 fuel. Was talking about 85 octane gasoline that's sold in a lot of the Rocky Mountain states, lieu of the normal regular 87 octane gasoline.

Full of BS... 36MPG? Going down a hill on a freeway, foot off the gas pedal, no wind, warm temperature, may-be. I read that thread where the member was telling he got 30+, but was testing it 100% on a flat freeway on 10-20 miles trips, which was completely irrelevant.
