Manual trannys have remained the choice of 3rd world people because they are cheaper to buy and easier to repair.

But when Lamborghini and Ferrari both discontinued manual trannys, you could see the writing on the wall.

http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2...nsmission.html

When Ferrari made the move to drop its iconic gated stick shift the Italian automaker boasted that its transmission technology had become so impressive that shifting your own gears was, at best, antiquated and at worst, robbing the car of its performance.
With the launch of the new Huracán and retirement of its Gallardo model, rival Lamborghini has now also sold its last stick shift. Their reason: no one cares.

That’s right, demand for a manual transmission has almost entirely disappeared.
Manuals are old-fashioned, and will soon follow drum brakes, AM radios, buggy whips and hitching posts into that niche place that collectors and enthusiasts inhabit.

That is simply progress, and progress marches on, no matter what we, as individuals, desire.

Isn't the Mustang available with a manual transmission.
I guess it must be old fashioned.

The fact that some vehicles still offer a manual transmission doesn't mean they aren't antiquated, or that they are better ... it just means they are offered.

BMW recently announced they were not going to be offering a M5 with a manual after this year either. I'm another one of the old school guys who prefers driving a manual from time to time. I converted both of my Mercedes from auto to manual but neither is a daily driver. I don't want to play DJ footwerk while I'm stuck in traffic.

Yes and yes.

On Cars.com, there are 4,291 2015 and 2016 new Mustangs for sale nationwide.

There are 14,938 for sale overall. Better grab a manual one while you can, because I remember people on this forum saying that Raptors will always be available with a V-8.

Like I said,

Manuals are old-fashioned, and will soon follow drum brakes, AM radios, buggy whips and hitching posts into that niche place that collectors and enthusiasts inhabit.

Automatics are far superior to manual transmissions and get better MPG's.

You can still order a Dodge Cummins with a manual but i believe it loses towing capacity.

So yeah. Manuals suck ***** now.
Less than one in 10k thousand want one. I highly doubt that. I would've bought one had it been available. You can have your automatic and your MPGs.

Suck *****,! Yea, the new GT350s and the Focus RS really suck. The dealers must be having a hard time trying to unload those right now seeing how an automatic IS NOT available with those models.

Can't speak for the GT350 or Focus RS, but if you think that you are going to move the shifter thru the gears on the new $400,000+ GT, think again.

Paddle shifter. After all, taking your hands off the wheel to shift is really old fashioned, isn't it?

Yea, that paddle shifter goes great with its 6 cylinder. No arguing that!
