Default No 12vdc power to trailer plug on 2017 F150

I have a 2017 F150 and have no power to the Trailer Plug for 12vdc power. iI am installing an electric tongue jack on a utility trailer and did not want to have to add a battery to the trailer just foe the jack ao i just wanted to plug the separate plug on the jack into my truck trailer plug for raising and lowering the trailer tongue. how do I activate the 12vdc power to the trailer plug n the truck?

You shouldn't have to activate it. It should be working. If it's not you might want to have the dealer check it. I wouldn't think it would be a fuse on a brand new truck.

Have you tested it? Have you plugged your trailer lights into it? Maybe it's the jack??

Had the same problem. Read it was an Intelligent connector. You have to set up the trailer and name it in dash before the 12v plug works.

There was just a thread here recently about it

I don't remember setting mine up before I plugged in my trailer, but I'm old and I forget things. :-)

Thanks for the info. Learn something new every day.

I had the same problem with my 2016 and this is what I learned. first the truck must be running and stay running in order for the 12v to work, next you need to put the truck in gear in order for the truck to activate the 12v but then you can put it back in park. this is a **** poor set up ford has done. 60.000.00 for a truck and I have to waste gas in order o use the lights in my enclosed trailer....JUST STUPID...
