Default Nitto Ridge Grappler XL Load Range

I noticed Nitto put out the RG in XL load range over the past 2 months in sizes 275/55R20 (my stock size) and 275/60R20. I love the look of the RG in the LT load ranges.

I've searched all over for pictures of the RG in the XL load range, but haven't come across any yet. Nitro told me they don't have any either. So my question is anyone running these yet? I don't like the decrease in tread depth (16.4 to 13.5), but I'm mostly concerned about the RG's looking too watered down from the LT version.

Also, would the 10 ply RG's in 275/55R20 be as bad as I'm thinking?

Thanks ahead of time!

It Will be stiffer for sure... Load E is a lot for a 1/2 ton truck. Do you really need them? 10 plys is a lot... They are usually meant for 3/4 ton or more That tow a lot.

Just don’t want you to hate your ride because of stiff tires.

Definitely don't need 10 ply for any practical reasons. Mostly want to see if the XL rated RG's are watered down - I'd think they would be a little.

The tires aren't actually 10 ply...they just say that on the sidewall to let you know the equivalent bias ply tire. Nowadays it doesn't mean anything.

The XL tires should be a little different from the LT tires. Usually the profile of the XL tire is a little more rounded, less tread depth and the pitch count is higher which makes the blocks a little shorter. Also the construction is going to be different between the 2. Just depends what you want but I would recommend the XL tire over the LT for comfort, MPG, and noise reasons.

Hey I have had my xl 275/60/20 ridge grapplers in for about 400 miles and they ride great. A lot better then my d rated ko2s. They balanced perfect and have zero vibrations. One thing about the xl ridge grapplers is the tread is not as deep 13.5/32 vs 16/32nd on the e rated one. I put the least aggressive side face if outward. If you have any questions about them just ask. Makes me want to switch back to 20's for the 275/60's! They look great.

They just came out with the 275/65r18 in XL load rating as well. Right now planning on that tire when I need new ones. 6lbs less than the stock C load wranglers.

Xl rated are the way to go. No need for me to have the extra weight plus that stiff ride. The don't look quite as aggressive as the e rated ones but the ride is worth it.
