Default New step rails---should I bed line/plastic dip them?

When I bought my truck a couple of years ago, I bought the step rails for my short wife and 5 year old to get up into the truck. Well, 2.5 years later they are rusted bad, so this time I bought a cheaper set from Ebay. Never really used the bed liner or Plastic dip, but see a lot of talk about it. Do you think the new step rails will last longer if I paint them? (they are already black)

Thanks,

Dave

I am new to the plasti dip world, actually today is the first day I am using it. Although in the past I have used raptor liner which is just like rhino lining but cheaper in price. The raptor lining held up great, I don't think plasti dip is very reliable for stepping on.i used the raptor on truck boxes that I have walked on and front bumpers that after a year still had no chips from rocks and other road debris. Hope this helps ya out!!
