Is this the "new normal" for dealership service?

Have you tried recalibrating your go pedal? Turn the ignition on but dont start it. Slowly press the pedal down to the floor and release it quickly, turn off the ignition. Repeat 3 more times and then start it normally. Give it a try and see. Worked wonders on mine. I had a flat spot where I would press down and it would slowly accelerate, press a little more and nothing, then ZOOM, if I were turning it would light up the inner tire. Now I press it lightly and it goes like it should.
I tried this and at first it felt like it made a bit of a difference, but it's about back to where it was. Such a frustrating problem. I'll have to take it in and cross my fingers they can find it...

Well that sucks. Hope they can figure it out without too much lost time on your end. These vehicles are way too complex now and when something non mechanical goes wrong, they either say its normal, or can never figure it out without throwing parts at it.

It's easy to forget the big picture when appointment times are met. We get pissed off for having to wait an hour or more in the doctor's office, then find out he got called to the hospital for emergency surgery on a child. Unforeseen circumstances and priorities.
Yes, if I make an appointment to take my wife's car in (my 09 F150 has NEVER been in the shop a single day ;-) ) I expect the appointment to be honored BUT, there are things that come up that are unexpected. Your scheduled mechanic may have called in sick that day. The two cars he worked on that morning may have had bigger problems than expected. They can't possibly know that was going to happen when you made the appointment several days earlier.
Just as I want the doctor to give me his full attention on a busy day, I expect the mechanic to give my car his full attention and that means not rushing and doing a half *****ed job just to keep on schedule.
Oh, and I'm much more patient that I was 25 or 30 years ago!

Kensterfly ... I agree with you, but I think there is another part to this "big picture". If I understand the point of this thread, the real problem here is that the OP said that his dealer is routinely making people drop off their vehicles days earlier then when they plan on getting to it. This seems wrong/odd to me. I completely understand if you have an appointment for a Tuesday, but they can't get to it until Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning. However, I do NOT agree with a dealership telling me to drop my truck off on a Tuesday KNOWING they do not even intend to get to it until Friday or the next Monday.
