2.7eb vs 5.0
My first time posting to the forum.
The main reason I joined was a) I am a truck junkie although I haven't owned one since a 3/4 ton Silverado which I am still trying to forget and b) I will be purchasing one in the next 6 months and found this website perfect to research well before hand.
I have narrowed my search to a toss up between the newer smaller EB and the 5.0.
Alot of the reading i have done on the EB had stated there isn't a great difference in fuel economy between them and would appreciate any feedback at all.
Currently not the handiest with a wrench but looking to turn that around and do most of the regular maintenance myself.

My only problem with the 2.7 is it's size, only 165 cu. in., and that seems kind of small to push these large trucks around, in my opinion any way, so I would worry about reliability down the road.

Beer, Boats, and Trucks.
The 2.7 will get you better gas mileage except for when towing (although it will likely feel better towing due to where the power sits). The 2.7 is also the quicker of the two. 5.0 sounds badass though lol
All in all, they aren't all that different performance wise, so where the 2.7 might take the edge on certain things I don't think you will be upset either way.

Agreed.
Looking for the best combination of fuel economy and reliability.
The 2.7 worries me in terms of the turbos giving out over time and the size of the truck stressing the engine out.
I take good care of my vehicles, I currently am driving a Mazda6 with 340k on it.
Just not sure if the extra 200k to a tank is worth the risk.

If you plan to tow the EB's are the better choice. The 5.0 will have more top end HP than the 2.7. The 2.7 will have more low end torque.
