From my experience with Geico it is the exact opposite. My 03 was wrecked a couple years ago and it was quoted with new parts and they made sure to only use new parts. They found a shop in KS that still had a NOS door (is it old enough to call it NOS lol) had it shipped in and that door was put on my truck. But I get the small town treatment where every body knows your name so it might just be where you live.

1st thing you should do is contact YOUR insurance company, let them deal with the claim.

Sucks About your truck, were you and the neighbor friends before?

How about sharing the pics...

From recent and ongoing experience with Geico, be prepared for a fight. First thing is, they will want to install non Ford parts. Whether those are new CAPA or second hand, is anyones guess. They are also slow to respond to dealers auto body shops calls.

Next, they will be slow to give you a rental and quick, even before repairs are finished, to take it back.

Finally, TURN OFF ANY FORM OF MONEY TRANSFERS INTO YOUR CHECKING ACCOUNT. THEY WILL DUMP WHAT THEIR ADJUSTER ESTIMATES INTO YOUR ACCOUNT AND YOU WILL HAVE NO MEANS TO DECLINE. (They most likely will pull your credit history to determine your financial status.)

Good luck!

We were not friends necessarily but, it's definitely been awkward. We live in a small neighborhood and unfortunately I did not react very well. I should probably go apologize but, I've never bought a car this nice and it kills me that I finally spring and it gets hit a day later. I guess it's my reminder that material things aren't the most important thing in life...

1st. Usually insurance companies go off of mileage when deciding to use aftermarket or junkyard parts. I'm sure you can look it up online. I've seen as low as 15k miles for them to start putting junk on vehicles.

However if they do use junkyard parts(this may be different state to state) the insurance company, in addition to whatever the body shop warranty is, offers lifetime warranty on them....usually. Again might be different where you are.

2nd. Last few of the newer f150s I've repaired, the aftermarket hasn't caught up yet. Meaning there are no aftermarket aluminium parts last i knew. Haven't repaired an aluminium truck since August. So that may have changed since then.

3rd of there's a tear, they more than likely will replace the boxside. If you feel they won't, speak up.

Depending on color you may want to put in the argument for blending the color into the adjacent panels. If geico is footing the bill, i can nearly guarantee they will not pay to blend. Again speak up.

But Geico is not paying the bill unless the neighbors also have Geico but he did not sign the neighbors Geico policy, so that would be different.

OP demand OE parts!

My old Grand Marquis has been parked in front of our house for years. Last week neighbor's friend backed out & wacked the left rear door. His insurance paying 100% + accepted diminished value responsibility. (now just have to wait & see what they offer for a replaced left rear door). Repairs are right at $1500.00 for a door replace & paint. Hate to think repairs will be to a new aluminum bed will be.

Also be sure who ever fixes it has worked on aluminum before.
Ditto on the diminished value advice.

Depending on the extent of the damage and repairs, your truck may end up with a DV notation on it's Carfax report to any potential buyer if/when you decide to sell.

This could substantially affect it's resale value.

If your state is a DV state, you're entitled to compensation for this. It's a hard, tough sell and you'll be required to do a lot of the legwork yourself. Don't necessarily count on any assist from your Insurance company as they (as an industry collectively) don't like to pay DV claims.

We experienced this several years ago with a near-new Jeep Grand Cherokee. Broadsided by a car that ran a stop sign. Near-totaled but offender's insurance company insisted on repairing rather than totaling.
We immedeately indicated that we intended to file a DV claim (allowed in our state) to try to change their mind about repairing versus totaling. No avail.

Long year-and-half battle but we prevailed and offenders insurance company finally offered an acceptable settlement.

Good luck.
