Default It was inevitable-fuel tank straps wearing out!!

As the title suggests, the tank straps on my F-150 are letting go(one has already detached, lowering the rear of the fuel tank a couple of inches). I found some replacement straps on eBay for $33.00. Is it possible to replace the straps while the tank is still on the truck or does it have to be dropped completely? Also, how long does it usually take to replace them(my F-150 has the 30 gallon fuel tank,I've been trying to reduce the weight by driving the truck to burn off the fuel).

I don't think you would have to drop the tank. If you can properly support the tank, you should be able to leave it in place while you replace the straps.

it should be just 4 nuts. one on each end of each strap. just do one end at a time and you shouldnt have to remove it
