Modern motors don't really need to be broken in any more, IMHO.

Your manual will have the details. No towing for the first 1K miles and drive it at all various speeds.

Yeah just let the motor get some miles on it before you bust it's *** towing. They get most of the break in done at the factory I've been told.

Today's motors have the "stupid factor" built in them. Just drive it with some common sense for the first couple thousand miles. Don't push it to any limits. Common sense!!

Take your truck to something like this: http://www.wannagofast.com/clayton.php

Or any where where you can race stock vehicles. You will love it.

The most common mistake is following the owners manual to baby the engine during break in.

Run it like you will drive it, you need to get the piston rings seated in the first 500 miles so romp on it a few times, I'm not saying slam the gas to the floor at every green light but vary the throttle in ALL of your driving, the engine will last you a long time either way but if you don't want to compare your oil mileage with your gas mileage, ya gotta get those rings seated soon.

Before any one else chimes in that I don't know what I'm talking about, consider the fact I have been building engines and repairing cars my entire adult life. (30+ years)

.
