Default Nerf Bars and Running Boards Q&A

Getting ready to add some nerf bars to my 2014 F150, and it seems most attach to the rocker panel. It seems like a better attachment point would be to the frame. Should I be concerned about attaching them to the rocker panel, and only look at types that attached to the frame?

The OEMs that came on the truck were attached to the body.

I took them off after two weeks of cussing at them. They were in the way, mostly unusable, and potentially dangerous.

The mount on the body is pretty stout. No need for frame mounting.

Leave them off and it'll make the truck seem taller

You could drop some coin and get amp power steps, they use the body mounts but are rated for 600 lbs. best of both worlds, useable steps and then tuck out of the way and make trucks look good.

Now if you want them as rock sliders steps then you need to look at frame mounted.
