The sales manager was the person that referred me to him last week. I heard someone call his name as I was walking out the door.

The sales manager is the one calling the shots.
The salesman is just his minion.

I think possibly the sales manager was just trying to give a new guy a sale referral, and see how he performed. I would expect the sales manager, had someone acting for him yesterday, and I know the owner will be discussing the situation with his team tomorrow. All I am expecting at this point is my deposit refund, so I can move on, as quickly as possible.

Sounds like the salesman is a complete rookie and idiot. Don't settle for less than EXACTLY what you want. If the truck was ordered with the wrong options, then you don't do anything until they get another truck with the correct options on it. No point in discussing anything else about the deal with them until that part is resolved.

Now if they want to discount the truck a few thousand below what it's worth just to move it because it's got the wrong options and you can live with that then go for it. However, my experience is if it doesn't have what you want you'll hate it over time. Not to mention the entire purchase experience has been ruined from this point on. Every time you drive the truck or someone asks about it, you'll have to tell them this story...

If they aren't bending over backwards to fix the situation to YOUR liking, then just piece out. Sounds to me like walking is the only thing that will change this rookies attitude.

I find this problem is getting worse and worse with these salesmen. They barely have to put any work in these days to sell vehicles, a lot of people walk in and barely negotiate for a better price. Not to mention vehicles like the F150 usually have a loyal customer base and pretty much sell themselves. The salesmen would rather not go through the hassle when he can sell the truck to someone else at a better price and make more $$$.
I have a salesman that I trust and he'll be getting my business until he gives me a reason not to, which I highly doubt will happen.
Find yourself another salesman, even if it's at the same dealership.

Definitely move on asap! I've purchased 12 brand new vehicles (including a brand new 2017 F-150 Platinum FX4 yesterday!) since 1999 and have not and would not be spoken to by a car salesman that way! Did you remind him that you pay his salary? I would get in touch with the GM and/or owner of the dealership (if its not owned by one of these huge corporate outfits) and give them a piece of my mind. Then i would get my deposit back and tell them to stick the wrong truck they ordered where the sun dont shine! GOOD LUCK! And keep us posted with the outcome.

Maybe a call to the BBB about the rebates/incentives, but don't expect much on that front.
The BBB part isn't worth his time. They're worthless.

Sadly, that's been my experience as well.

Too many people think the BBB is a government entity. Or some entity with power. They've none unless you count the power to blackmail. Especially in the age of Facebook, Yelp, Google, Tripadvisor, etc where you feedback is in front of a huge public audience....at the cost of nothing.

Not sure where you are in TN. I am 45 miles south west of Knoxville. One Knoxville dealer shot me an e-mail with a deal on a truck I was looking for. Once I got there in person, he was 4K higher on his truck than the e-mail, and 2K lower on my trade than the e-mail. I walked right away. Got many phone calls and each time I said you blew it the first time, not waisting my time again.

Another dealer 20 miles or so out of Knoxville sent me an email they could order what I wanted. So I sent them exactly what I wanted built, and what my trade was. Sent it to another dealer also. Well the first dealer came back with a great price and the second a very good price.

When to the first, again 2k less for my trade than they said in e-mail. And all kinds of add on fees and crap on new truck brining it to 3K more than they said. Walked and went to the 2nd dealer. Right away they told me they would order it for what they told me in E-mail. They wanted used truck manager to drive my truck as they thought it might be worth more. Well, they came back and it was.

I asked what I needed for a deposit to order my truck. I was told a hand shake was good enough. five day later they e-mailed me my order number and in 10 days I had a vin. When the truck came in the deal went as promised. They beat the other Ford dealers by several thousand dollars and it was a very pleasant experience.

I recommend Matt at Jackie Jones Ford in Swee****er TN.
