Looking into purchasing a 2011 fx4 supercrew with ecoboost. Truck has 71,000kms (getting up there, I know). The dealer is offering extended warranty and lifetime oil changes. Leather, not sure if it has max trailer package, it does have integrated trailer brake though. They are asking $32,000 and very nice financing options.. I looked at new trucks and to get something similar in a 2012 I would be well into the $40,000 range.. any opinions?

32k seems way to high for a 2 yr old truck. They are taking 9-10k off 2012 msrp, thats got to be right around where you want to be. There have to be a couple lying around

I agree with everyone else. I used to sell cars many years ago and trust me your getting smacked over the head for $32k with that many miles. There are very nice rebates on trucks right now and really good lease options. Don't knock the lease as you can always buy it anytime and it gets you into a brand new truck for a cheaper payment and atleast you know how you treated it. Good luck though with whatever you decide to do.

good points guys, like I said the asking price is 32k, so not what I will be paying for sure if I was to go that route. I have looked at 2012's with similar package (fx4, leather) and the closest they can touch for me here in edmonton, Ab is 43k. I am planning on shopping around some more though just to see. This dealership has been treating me decent with offering lifetime oil and extended warranty within that price.

They can afford to offer you those warranties cause they are making all the money from you on the truck. Got to ford .com and look at 10 different dealerships, find a comparable truck and then email them for their best # on it. Counter them with your best, and then go back to your dealer and make them match your best deal, or jist take the best deal. The option of a lease may also make sense as there are some great deals right now and if you still like it after the term buy it or trade it into the remake in 2015 or 2016. Good lick

I think it's just Alaska but usually when we buy a used truck up here the average milliage is at least 100k for a 4 year old truck, and about 20-30k for 2-3 year old trucks. I scored with mine because a military guy owned and didn't drive it much. Most people I know up here Put a large amount of miles on their vehicles in a short time. I either know people who drive a lot or Alaska is just really big. Lol honestly I'd rather have a vehicle with roughly 60k to 100k miles on it because all the little beginning kinks are done with. My truck bothers me some times because it's such a baby. I'd say go with the truck that speaks to you.

well a 2012 fx4 with luxury spoke to me today, financing was pretty sweet and it had everything I needed and more. Thanks again guys for all the opinions and advice. Never had a brand new vehicle before and I am glad that I picked this truck! Now I need to figure out all the bells and whistles lol
