Default Need info on floor shift boot

The boot on my floor shifter is leaking. I have a new muffler and tailpipe but the boot is letting engine compartment smells into the cab. Now that it's getting into a Texas summer, the AC is always on and the windows rolled up; so I need to fix it.

My ride is the 1990 extended cab with the 4.9L engine and 5-speed tranny. The stick is in the floor.

I've done some searching but I have no idea what size the opening in the floor is. Where can I find this info? (I would just measure it and go from there, but I hate to buy something that won't fit after I get it. Thought I might ask and save myself some grief.)

Also, if you have any suggestions about where to source this part, I'd be much obliged.

www.fordparts.com once there select your year, model, etc and scroll thru the body section>floor> should take you straight to the shifter boot and associated hardware.

Don't know exactly which trans you have (most likely the ZF 5 speed) but they have a picture diagram that you can pick out the proper part and buy right there.

Most expensive one I saw was $45.00

NOT most likely the ZF. Most likely the M5OD.
