Need help/advice restoring some interior black trim
So someone with dirty fingers got grease or oil on the black trim that surrounds the radio and climate controls of my 2011 F-150 XLT, right above the radio/CD/Sat/Aux buttons. Then they tried to clean it using an alcohol pad (so they say) and they got the grease off, along with some of the "black" finish. Now there is a light white haze in that spot - like the black finish has come off - like it's worn out. I am disappointed by the friend that caused the problem and by my inability to fix it. Does anyone have any suggestions to restore this black trim piece to it's original flat/matte black appearance?
I have searched the web and this forum and tried the suggestions I found:
I have tried some diluted soapy water - no help.
I have tried Mother's Back to Black - didn't work.
My alternatives now seem to be 1) replace the trim piece at a cost of at least $85 or 2) live with it looking awful and worn-out.
Any good ideas are much appreciated!
