Need Advice! Used dealer purchase, prior accident
Hi all. I'm about to purchase my first truck...2012 Lariat. I ran an Autocheck on the truck and saw that it was a single owner truck, a lease, and in a prior accident. It had also been repossessed.
It only has 27600 miles on it and it's listed for just a shade over $30K and appears to be in great condition. However, the Autocheck advised that the accident had been "moderate to severe."
I'm considering purchasing the truck from a very reputable Ford dealer in the Kansas City area. I don't really care about the lease/repo but I am concerned about the accident.
Should I be concerned? I'm sure it's been vetted and the warranty is still in place (right?...is it 5 yr 60K?) and it's coming from a legit dealer.
Thoughts?????

I'd want to know exactly how it was damaged and how it was fixed. Don't assume anything, warranty, vetted? Ask a lot of questions. Repo'd vehicles worry me. I've seen some pretty abused repo'd vehicles.

I Agree with jkenprice1. I'd want to know more about the accident. My roommate, back in college, bought a vehicle from a reputable dealership that had also been in an accident and repaired.
Wether coincident or not.... he had nothing but troubles with the vehicle.
On the other hand... Dang! 30k for a 3 - 4 year old truck?!? I've been out of the game for a bit.

The dealer I bought my 2015 from had a used '15 with 13k on the clock for $48k. You can buy new ones for less than that.

The one uncertainty is the accident. The last thing you want to do is buy this truck, 6 month down the road you start having issues. If the price is much cheaper than comparable trucks and you are willing to take the risk then by all means. Personally, there are many trucks out there and you should be able to find the truck you want with no previous accidents.

I agree with the others, I'd keep looking. That's one hell of an investment to make for a possible problem child.

Seriously, take a look at new prices. I paid $36,000 out the door on a new 2015 Lariat with an MSRP of $46,000 and change. I don't see why you'd consider buying this at nearly the price of a new one.
You'd likely be happier with a brand new 2015 302a XLT for about the same price.
