Need advice /opinions.

Tonight while driving home from work I heard a fairly loud noise and then my tire pressure gauge went off and I immediately pulled into a parking lot because I heard a strange noise and realize I must have a flat. I looked at the tire and it was completely flat. I took it off and put on the spare (luckily I had a jack and tools for it since I didnt bother to look and make sure the truck came with those parts when I bought it a month ago). I took the tire to a tire repair shop where I know one of the gentlemen that works there as my ex-girlfriend and her family referred me to him once before with a brake issue. He took the tire in and said he wasnt sure if the would be able to repair it beause it looks like the bolt or metal scrap that went in to it was not straight in and it was an unusual angle. He said if it messed up any of the tire chords it could probably not be repaired. (The hole is in the middle of the treads, not the sidewall and looks to be about an ink pen wide and could be a little less than 1/2 inch. long.

Im not really familiar with tires so I was wondering if anyone here could provide some insight/advice. I cant afford to buy any new tires until I get paid on Friday (I can afford tires, if needed then, but just not until then). Is it ok to drive in town on the spare until Friday night when I can get new tires? I drive 20 miles round trip to work everyday in the city.

Thanks to anyone who can offer advice.

Anything but a straight through hole is often not repairable.

You should be good to run on the spare until payday.

Only run the spare on the rear if it is the same size as the one on the other side.

Otherwise, put it on front.

i generally say, anyhole bigger than a #2 philps screwdriver 1/4 inch isnt repairable with just a plug...patch with plug maybe..then it would stay on the rear till wornout..
as said about the spare that is doable...its a fullsize spare not a temporay donut..

Thanks for the responses, y'all. They were able to patch it - the guy said it looked a lot worse than what it was.
