I'd have to admit I would never take a new anything and throw a tune on it, of any kind.
I installed my tune (not SSI) at 6k miles. Presently sitting at 19k. Truck was and has been flawless.
Can a tune cause an engine to blow? Absolutely. Are some tuners more aggressive than others? Absolutely. If you're going to tune you need to know what you want out of your tune. The more you want the more chance you have of having problems.
IMO if a tuner needs to send you 2-3 tunes to get it right, you need to run.
Certainly interested in hearing back from the OP when he knows more.

There's only one tune maker I can find so much controversy over involving legit angry customers with pictures of busted engines or questionable customer service exchanges. Anyone interested can spend 5 minutes getting the same results and make their own call.

That's because there are a ton of haters out there spewing bs and heresay every chance they get. Most have never used ssi and have no idea what they are talking about.

Hmm, that's not a very good thing to negate. Wonder how much, and what kind of thought went into that.
