I went to the dealership today for my oil change. I also asked them to redirect my DRL to my markers, as factory equipped HID models have. The receptionist looked at me like I was speaking martian but noted it down. After an hour and a half, I had my truck back. She informed me that the could not find anything in the computer to redirect them. I pushed back a little saying this seems to be pretty common practice and should show up on there IDS ( I was winging it). She then said she would talk to the service manager. After a little while, he came out and said he would grab a computer and have a look.

He plugged it in and 30 seconds later, he told me to start up the truck and put it in gear. BAM! Projectors off...markers on. I genuinely thanked him and his staff for not brushing me off and taking the time to further investigate my request. Said they are great and I'm happy I bought a Ford. He appreciated it, shook my hand and didn't ask for a penny. I had been told, initially i would be charged $52 for them to do anything with the computer.

I figure so many take time to complain, I would take the time to compliment what could have been a very frustrating experience that turned into a good experience. Way to go Mike Knapp Ford in Welland Ontario!

your not the only one having a rough time with getting the dealerships to change over to the marker lights, at least you were able to have them do it. other members on here aren't so lucky.

They don't really bug me but painting them would be nice. I think I read about it previously but how is it done? I don't think it was as simple as painting the backsides black lol.

That's too bad. I thought for sure I would be walking out of the dealership with my projectors as DRL still. I couldn't hide my joy when he fixed me up lol! It honestly took him 30 secs to do it. So it is possible and completely legal. I did have to explain what I was talking about several times though, so i can see where a dealership will just give up.

I'm referring to my daytime running lights. In Canada, they are mandatory. What they do is activate the headlamps at a lower power for daytime driving whenever you are in gear. Having installed projectors, my projectors were always running when I drove whereas with factory equiped F150 projectors, the marker lights are used as daytime runners. SO I was asking the dealership to have the computer activate the markers instead of the headlights for my daytime runners. Hope that makes sense.

I had almost forgotten about my other bad turned good experience yesterday! My DeeZee tailgate assist! It gave out some time ago. I had contacted DeeZee in March or April when the issue started with no response. Recently, I noticed I had been placed on an emailing list for them. I was not impressed with that and sent them a pretty sarcastic email about it. They responded within hours asking what had happened. I apologized as I had been rude and thanked them for the contact. Long story short; they are sending me a new tailgate assist.

Faith in humanity restored yesterday.
