^^^ Don't think there is a 402 on XLT. It's a 302A. 402 is FX4, isn't it?

people mention the numbered packages all the time ... but the only part that matters is the LAST number and whether or not there is an A at the end.

XLT's have a 3 series package ... FX4has a 4 series ... King Ranch has a 6 series ... etc. but for ALL of them there is an xx1, xx2 and xx2A package ...

What's the difference between the 2 and 2A?

I think it depends on the base model ... because each one is slightly different.

I just remember when getting my current truck I went thru all this with the dealership. The structuring of the packages is the same across all models ... the "1" is the "low end" package ... the "2" is the upgraded luxury package ... then the "2A" is the "fully loaded" package.

302A on my xlt and it came with the optional tow package but not max tow, chrome package was also separate, so I don't think the 2A is fully loaded.

Just got a '14 XLT SuperCrew 4wd with the 302a package, leather, HIDs, V8, and 3.55 e- locker. It's all I need and more; very satisfied!
Just get what you feel will satisfy your needs, be content with your purchase, and have no buyer's remorse.
Good Luck!

Apparently year model matters also, my 13 has cloth, halogen that I swapped out for HID.
