I might get an old chevrolet. I think it's a 1989 but I don't know. It was my great grand fathers and I hate to see that truck be sold because my brother and I both learned how to drive in it. I know this is a ford form but has any one had one before ? But I hope to keep my 2 f150 tho

A friend of mine had a 94 C1500 while her Murano was being fixed (because her dad backed into it). Ran great, I replaced the alternator on it for her (which took about 5 minutes). On most GM vehicles, accessories and plugs are easier to get to than on Fords, especially late models. The C/K series was a very good line of trucks. If I would have to compared it to anything Ford made, I'd say it compared directly to the Ranger body F-series.
That being said, I'm actually talking to a friend about working out a trade for my F150 for his 2004 Duramax since he doesn't see a point in ruining another truck farming out of when he could use one of the beat up 12 valves he has. He'd also like to get a Ford since his workers refuse to drive anything but Fords (they are fresh over the river should we say but have all of their working papers) and Fords don't have a good reputation in West Texas. Now don't get me wrong, I love my F150...but I can't afford to keep fixing something wrong with the drivetrain or engine every 20K miles like I have been since I bought the truck with 67K original miles on it...where a LB7 with 180K miles will make it another 100K miles with minimal issues. The opportunity to get a newer truck with a bigger cab, 4WD that's in good shape minus the bed has arisen and I'm trying to hop on it while I can.

Grab and keep that puppy, I had a company truck of same vintage, drove it for 170K myself, left the company when it was at 235K. The 350 engine did like to eat gas. Good luck.

The GMT-400 (88-98 C/K series) chassis was one of the best half ton trucks ever made. Imo. My Buddys 93 Z71 Sierra went over 200k before EVER having a tune up. The TBI 350's were great motors, a little under powered but damn reliable. The biggest pitfall with these trucks were the weak 8.5 10-bolt

Most of my GM experience deals with 04 on up and primarily with LB7 and LBZ Duramaxes. My mother currently has a 04 Trailblazer, the only mechanical issues it has ever had have been the water pump and throttle body solenoid which for the most part are just basic wear and tear. In my experience with them, GMs go pretty far on just basic maintenance. Even though some of the bits and pieces of maintenance have been annoying on my mom's trailblazer, it has had far fewer problems and has spent far less time in the shop in the 134k miles (original owner) she has had it versus the 67k miles I've had my 02 F150. I'd recommend GM highly and in some cases, depends on where you are and what the driving terrain is, I'd recommend a lot of their trucks over Fords.
