not to stir the poo-pot, but that brings up another question...

if the mechanic you hired can't tell the difference between a 5.0 and a 6.2, what tells you that he can actually detect any other issues? I hope for you that everything is clear with the truck, but damn, I'm sure even I could find a code or something on the engine to tell which one it is if I really needed to...

I plan on seeking a partial refund, exactly.

We have a truck at work everyone said it was a 6.2 . If you looked up at the hood the emissions decal (think it has spark plug info) and ac information decal both said 6.2l it's a 2012 scab . It's a 5.0 I had to go look I used to have a 2012 5.0

Yes, I think the mechanic saw the AC sticker. The dealer said that the in 2011 both V8's were options, so the stickers were placed in some vehicles, maybe the 157WB's.

so my user manual lists all 4 engines, does that mean I should have 3 hidden somewhere in the truck??

The 6.2liter engine has 16 spark plugs. It should have been a no brainer to tell what was in there.

Hope you didn't put much stock in what your "mechanic" told you about the truck since he couldn't figure out which engine was in it.....

Lets move on to the next potential issue, shipping the truck from Indiana to Northern California...

I hope your truck is as nice as you hoped. Did you have anyone other than a mechanic check it out? Friend, family member, etc? My only time buying site unseen was a nightmare, but it was an old Jeep, not a newer vehicle. Regardless it left a sour taste in my mouth and I will NEVER make that mistake again. Post some pics when you get it.
