Military grade aluminum
my 2013 has the aluminum hood only
we had a hail storm here and it wasn't terribly big hail. My GMC and Dodge both got some dents in them, not alot
my F150 suffered the most damage and 99 percent of it was the hood. There were one or two small dents on the fenders, but the hood is totalled and going to be replaced.
For this reason, I just don't see myself buying another F150 with full aluminum body. The adjuster from Geico said they had to total a few of the 2015 F150s because the aluminun took a beating

"Military Grade Aluminum" or "Aircraft Aluminum" is a purely advertising ploy. Fact of the matter is All Aluminum is aircraft and Military grade. Both military and aircraft use all kinds of differing alloys of Aluminum.

According to this test the aluminum bodies took a lot more punishment than steel to make them dent. But the cost to repair was about double. The body panels on the 15's and 16's are pretty thick. Maybe the hood is thinner on the 13's. I don't know. But I'd not let the aluminum scare me away from a newer truck.

'zactly. Being in Michigan I tend to torture myself by listening to Detroit Lions' games on the radio when working in my garage. Laughed out loud when the American Steel Institute started advertising that you should "specify high strength steel" for your new truck or car on those broadcasts. Of course the Lions are owned by the Ford family so they are paying money to the Ford family in response to them converting the F150 to aluminum and starting a trend that is continuing.
