Default Lug Nuts starting to show rust. How to remove?

The chrome lug nuts that came with my aftermarket wheels are beginning to show signs of rust just around the edges. Is there anything I can use that will take it off? I've tried CLR but it didn't seem to work.

Try soaking them in white vinegar for several hours and scrub-off the resulting rusty paste. *As seen on American Restoration - factoid.

Then apply a couple coats of quality automobile polish.

Anyone else? I'd prefer not having to take them off to do this. Like I said it's just on the edge of the tips in spots, not the whole thing.

Wd40 and 0000 steel wool. I've used it on the spokes and wheels of my Harley. Soak the steel wool with the wd40 and spray some on the rusted area and lightly scrub, it should come right off. Clean the area with soap and water and you're good to go.

Exactly what he said! I use 0000 steel wool for small rust spots as well.
