Loud whistling noise

Hey guys, wondering if someone can help me.
I'm having a loud whistling noise that sounds like wind noise around 70-80mph on the highway. I would say around 2k RPM range. The weird part is when I release the throttle the sound goes away completely. I am thinking it may have something to do with the turbos but I’m wondering if anyone else is having a similar issue. Btw the noise happened before any modifications.

Is your airbox seated/closed completely?

Yes the air box is seated properly. It’s a roush intake so the top is open for the airbox but once you close the hood it seals the air box. And like I said I was having this issues when I bought the truck bone stock. So I don’t think the CAI is affecting it.

if it's only at cruise on the highway and 2000rpm, seems like it may be a wind noise/window seal thing. but it's odd, because you'd hear the same loud whistle if it were the turbos and a poorly sealed intake system at any sort of throttle where heavy boost is commanded.

I thought it was a wind noise as well but it dosent make sense for a wind noise to go away when the throttle is released. Like it completely goes away no matter what if the throttle is released which makes it seem like a turbo issue.

I would check all the charge air cooler boots(inter cooler) also all the turbo clamps. The smallest leak will make a whistle noise.

ooof. I'm wondering if someone drilled a hole in your intercooler

Yeah I’m going to check all the charge air pipes and any connections on the boost side. Thanks guys I’ll keep y’all updated 👍🏾

Noise at 75-80

My 2016 2.7 Screw does the same thing. Most likely it wind noise...a high pitch whistle from the windshield or antenna or whipers. I just went faster and it went away over 90 or under 80 mph, No noise!

Antenna

This might sound silly but if you have an aftermarket antenna on your F-150 that is smooth, it will create a whistle at highway speeds. Check to make sure your antenna has a wire spiraled around it or remove the antenna and see if the noise disappears.
