Was curious on everyone thoughts on the locking lug nuts or whatever there properly called. New truck that came with stock 20's. We have had a rim thief lately that targets trucks in our subdivision with stock 20's. Are they worth buying or maybe there is something cheaper that works just as good?

If they want your wheels bad enough they have the correct tools to get them off no matter what you put on them...keyed lugs will slow them down or even make them move on to the next truck...

exactly - do what you can to make your truck a harder target, but if they are set on your wheels they'll get them. Locking lugnuts aren't a bad idea but nothing is fool proof - security is best in layers so if you can do anything else to make it harder for them do that too. even a 'fake' cctv camera pointed at the truck and easily spotted from the street can help

As the others have noted ... They're only protection from the honest.
Another reason why-not ... They're a PITA. Between loosing the key, needing a different lug wrench, the tire shop mangling and over-torquing 'em, and loosing the key (ya, I know already mentioned that) they're definitely not worth the hassle and futzing. . |
Smith & Wesson is very convincing at thwarting some sticky fingered dirtbag.
