Line-X question
Has anyone without the UVB protectant had their Line-X liner fade? They want an extra $125 for the protectant. I had Line-X in the past without issue but never kept the truck more than 2 years. I plan on keeping this one a while. Is it worth it?

I think it is if it truly works. I have no proof only had mine done with Line-X with UVB and looks brand new after 6 months. I have had Rhino and it didn't last more than a year before it was greyed out. There are other local companies around here that don't use a UV protection and their liners usually start to look faded in the first year (depending on where you live of course). I paid for it to protect my investment. I too plan on keeping my truck for quite a while and do not want to have to to go back for repair/replacement if I don't need to.

Do you plan on adding a tonneau cover? If so the liner wont see much light anyway. You could use that $125 toward the cover of your choice!

I have had Line X on all my trucks, the last 10 years or so. I had just recently owned a F250 for 6.5 years with Line X. It set outside in the Texas heat (and cold) all the time. Most of the time was on my Sun Baked driveway were the temps were 125 on a regular basis. I did not start to notice fade until after the 4th year. And it did not start to show up too bad until after the 6th year – to actually become dull.
It did not have the UV protection. Every night in Houston heavy dew would cover the truck and bed, the next day it would hit the 125 degrees and dry out. So I would say save your money.
The new F150 is now in the garage, both day and night. Only taken out if it is used LOL. I doubt it will show any fading in 12 years. The new Line X store that put in the latest liner, told me to save my money.

Why wouldn't the standard Line-X job come with UV stabilizer? When you bought your truck the dealer didn't ask you if you wanted to spend more and get one with paint that wouldn't fade did he? That seems like a strike against Line-X in my opinion.

I went with the factory line-ex option and if it fades they re-do it free.

I am not planing on adding a cover. I had Line-X liners in the past and was never asked about the UVB protection. My last truck was an 03 that I had the Line-X sprayed in. I never kept the trucks long enough for it to matter then anyway but I plan to own this one at least 5 years.
