Default let me introduce myself

Hello forum my name is allen. I'm from Alabama.I just purchased my first Ford.I've owned Mazda, chevy, pontiac, buick, and my favorite JEEP. I've never owned a ford and I have never owned a full size truck.I'm a current member of the NORTH AMERICAN GRAND CHEROKEE FORUM (NAGCA.COM) so I'm not new to forum life.I've had my truck for one day and I love it.I know you guys are gonna bar me from this site 'cause I'm a GMC fan,but I got to tell ya I really love my F150,and I've only ha dit a day.It has problems and we'll tackle them together.

The good

Lets get to what i got for $3100.00
1998 f150
5.4l
2wd
black w grey cloth int
flare or step side ( don't know what ford calls it )
185000
k&n filter

the bad

trany shutter .had regular fluid changes no filter chages( read change filter and add friction modifier )
scaned codes
cylinder missfire (did'nt say witch one)
mass air flow sensor ( bought cleaner. if it don't work will buy mafs)

really need to know what muffler sounds and works the best for the truck. i.e magna flow ,flowmaster ,dyno max. you get the idea.

I'd love all the input you guys could give.

Thanks,allen

Default Welcome

Howdy Allen and welcome to the site. great people and info here. My personal choice is FlowMaster but that's just me. Good luck with the new truck.

That's what I'm leaning towards. I was an advanced Auto store and they have the dynomax, and on the box they claim to flow better than flowmaster.I figured that test may be missleading since it was performed by them.

Welcome bud!

Yeah far as exhaust manufacturer claims, they all say they outflow the competition. All comes to what you like and can afford. I put a 44 Series Flowmaster setup on my 93 F-150 and it sounds decent ( well, as much as a L6 4.9 engine can anyhow ) but for my Mustang I put a Bassani which is def more expensive but much better quality...

Welcome, I went with the flowmaster because of cost and I like the sound on my 1995 5.8
