Default Left speaker fades in and out

Something I've noticed on the last several Ford products I've owned, be it Explorers, Expeditions, and now my 2011 F150 - the driver side speaker comes & goes. When it fades out I can boost the volume and then suddenly I have a working left speaker. I have never, in any of my vehicles, enhanced the audio system as I'm satisfied with OEM until the speaker thing happens. Is this a known weak point in Ford audio?

yes its a known issue. the windows drain water into the door and the speakers get deteriorated...i had the same issue and there was massive corrosion on the terminals after about 1year. I ended up having to put dielectric grease on all connections.

Good Lord! One would think by now after years of the same issue that Ford would take 10 minutes and engineer a fix?? Fortunately, for me, I'm not much of a tunes person so its not a huge bother - just gets a little annoying at times and it's always the driver's door - never had an issue with the pass side speaker on any of my recent Fords. But on the other hand I can think of a 1000 or more things I like about the vehicle...

Lightbulb

Consideration for you future posts .....

HINT/TIP: You'll find posting in the
Late Model F150s > 2009 - 2014 Ford F150
section more helpful/appropriate than General F150 Discussion posts.

Hmm now that you say that, that could be why my speakers would fade in and out randomly in my Powerstroke... I'll have to remember that tip for when I do the speakers on this one. Thanks!
