Default Leather seats wearing out

My driver side leather seat in my 2006 Fx4 is starting to get crumpled up on the door side. I know it's only a matter of time before it tears. Anybody had this problem? If so are there any ways to reduce the damage and once it does tear are there many repair/replacement options? Thanks

Seat covers. My last f150 with leather or so called leather seats did the same thing on the driver side. It looked like hell after 8 plus years and 150,000. Just cover it with a seat cover.

But that doesn't look that bad. Leather does cease and get wirinkles. It's the nature of the beast.

It's the foam bottom that needs replacing. The foam sags over time, causing the seat cover to wrinkle. The constant sliding in and out of the seat has worn out the foam at that location. Very common with these seats.

Either take it to a place that works on automotive upholstery, or buy a replacement lower pad and do it yourself.
Buying a seat cover will only "cover" the issue; the seat cover will not be tight in that location.

Yeah I agree with Bucko.

I was reading a thread about replacing the seat foam with some foam from Hobby Lobby. Sorry it's a Dodge forum, http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=39383 page 2 has some pics.

For seat covers, I like Clazzio, checkout truckleather or maybe ebay,

Don't forget to use a leather conditioner at least once a year. This will help the leather from wearing so quickly.

I also agree with comments about foam breaking down.

My leather in my 2006 looks EXACTLY the same. I just put leather conditioner on it regularly and it hasn't cracked yet.

It doesn't bother me personally(yet) because it's an older truck, and I like the worn look of the leather. If it gets worse I would probably get the foam redone by a shop.

Just a thought, is it possible to switch the seat bottom with the passenger side? Probably get another 10 years out of it!
