Leasing is good imo
Buy 'em new, drive 'em till their outta power train warranty, while beating the living snot outta them, all the while being careful to keep 'em purdy. Trade 'em in(gettin max trade-in allowance), never spend a dime on 'em, and let some poor schmuck think he's gettin a creampuff when he buy's it @ full retail a few days later- this process has worked for me for YEARS! I drive new, and other guys pay the freight.

So many people just don't understand leasing. I've leased Jeep Wranglers and I tinted the windows, lifted them, put tires on them, enjoyed them like my own. Then when I traded them in early, nobody asked me a single question and I got a trade in allowance equal to what I owed on them. Couldn't ask for anything better..and the payments are a lot cheaper.
This time around I bought this used F-150 and financed it because it's a $45,000 truck new and I got it for $23,950. THAT is why people buy 2 or 3 year old trucks.

So you leased a Jeep, spent even more money on wheels, tint and tires and gave it back to the dealer like that? Of course they didnt care. They let you pay for customizing a vehicle that I am sure they marked up even more to sell a second time around.

This. My dad has had 20 new trucks in his life and he has done that forever. He trades his and they sell his 2 yr old truck for what he paid with incentives and just haggling. They know he will be back in 2 years. Why people buy 1 - 2 yr old trucks I'll never understand. I talked to the guy who bought my 14 silverado all excited cuz he likes it and got a "good deal" lol while I was thinking...That's what I paid 2 yrs and 20k miles ago. I think people look at the sticker and just think we'll that's never gonna happen, better go buy this used truck for 38k.
What's his average payment? Is he coming out of pocket on down payments?
Depending on what he drives, it's very possible someone paid $45k for it. I paid $42k for my truck that stickered for $52k. To say there aren't any good deals on used trucks is ridiculous. Sure you can get a new lower trim model for close to used pricing, but you aren't going to steal the higher trim levels.
why not, I have a NEW vehicle every 3 years. I dont' have to worry about issues and maintenance past that.
He's fortunate enough to not have payments. Writes a check for the diff every two years. He trades with 25-35k miles on and writes a check for around 6 grand ish for the diff on the last few. He gets a 50k $ truck, gets 10-11k off sticker on his new one, gets 33-34 on trade and they sell his trade for 36-38.
