Default Lariat or FX4

Getting ready to order a new F150. Need help with what would be the differences between these to trucks. The FX4 seems to come out cheaper, but still has skid plates. Other then that they seem the same on paper. Are they built different, so the Lariat would be a smoother ride?

2012 FX4 SuperCrew
5 1/2 Bed
Ecoboost
3.73 Electronic Rear Axle
Max Tow Package
FX Luxury Package

Versus

2012 Lariat SuperCrew
5 1/2 Bed
Ecoboost
3.73 Electronic Rear Axle
Max Tow Package
Lariat Plus Package
Leather Bucket Seats

Any other suggestions on what you really like or don't too.

Thanks
Ron

If you're getting the 3.73 E-locker on the Lariat then I assume you're getting the offroad package which comes with skid plates as well. The Lariat will have 4-Auto, an armrest that can come down in the backseats, and supposedly has more sound dampening in the cab. The rest of the differences between those two trucks just comes down to appearance.

Thanks for the information. When I add the Max Tow Package at the Ford website to the Lariat it tells me it will delete the skid plates. The dealer said also the skid plates are removed with the Tow package.

So the FX4 does not have the armrest that comes down in the middle of the back seat?

Oh, never heard of that. If it makes you feel better, the skid plates supposedly aren't very good quality at least from what I've heard.

No, it's not available on the FX4.

Lariat will be a little nicer and have a few more luxury options. I highly recommend the air conditioned seats, best feature ever! One difference will be the dash and inside door trim. the 2011 has a light wood color trim that lots of people didnt like, im not sure what color the 12s have, my 10 lariat has the dark wood color that looks much better than the light color in the lariats, but i have black leather and the 11 light color doesnt look too bad if you go with the tan color interior.

The 12 FX4's have cooled seats. No auto 4x though. I'd recommend the FX4 just because I own one and I hate chrome

FX4 mainly due to the fact that I also HATE chrome on trucks, but that's my personal preference. the luxury package is cozy enough on the FX4 as well.. I have the 11 and I LOVE IT

In Dec I chose a 2011 FX4 over a lariat because it was a little cheaper and I can not stand the wood color trim and I am not a fan of tan interior and chrome. Either way I'm sure you will be happy!

Hi there, I'm looking at buying a 2010 F-150 Lariat, it has a 5.4 L, V8, 24v 6 speed automatic, MPFI SOHC. It has 28234 kms and the sticker price is $32929 cdn. Just wondering if this is a good price and is this a solid engine? Cheers reggie
