I'm stunned that you didn't include a sound clip!! Or a model number!! I went looking, and I'm guessing HK9, yes? What did you pay for them? And where did you mount the main components?

Those are great if you enjoy scaring your fellow drivers half to death, otherwise I don't see the need.

A horn is a horn is a horn. Your factory horn works just fine. You don't need a train horn for someone to hear you and move out of your way. It doesn't speed the process up either.

I beg to differ. With drivers talking on their phones and having the radios loud the factory horn is insufficient. Sure it meats regulations but you can do better. Why do you think emergency vehicles have louder horns... so that these distracted drivers can be heard.

I'm not saying having a train horn is the answer BUT having one as a backup is good.

I had an electric direct drive compressor on my old truck with a horn. Not as loud as a real air horn but it did the job. I had it wired in to my main horn so if i simply tapped the main horn, i'd give a nice "courtesy" honk but holding it down let the compressor power up and drive the trumpet... it was a good combination of a bit more loudness BUT wasn't too crazy.

Air horns CAN be obnoxious but they can also be useful in SOME situations (not all of course)
