Hello, I purchased the Kicker subwoofer upgrade for my 2023 f150, I did the installation myself per the Kicker instructions, it took about an hour, no issues. Took the truck to the dealer and took them all day to do the programming and I don't think they did it right. I have same issues as almost everyone it seems it doesn't sound great and bass has to be all the way down on the head unit and its still too much bass. I got over all that. My issue is that it worked for about a year then stopped working. i don't crank it often so the only way i knew it went out is my truck started to make banging noises when the power cycled, ie: unlocking door opening doors etc, the sub makes a whomping pop sound. Figured the cheap amp went out so called Kicker and they said I have a 3 year warranty but they want me to uninstall the complete enclosure and box it up and send it to them for testing. I got the wire specs from Kicker over the phone and tested the wiring and discovered that my remote wire coming from the head unit is only 6 volts, supposed to be 12v. The only thing i can think of is that the programming got knocked out by a software update, the truck had auto updated its software a couple times. Is it possible that an upgrade could push out the programmng for the sub since i don't think it was programed correctly anyway? Is that why the head unit isn't sending full voltage? makes no sense to send the unit to kicker at this point because evn it the amp or speaker went bad my remote wire is not throwing enough voltage. Tested it unlugged from the amp with the stereo on. I get 14 v to the red contant power wire, but only 6 volts to the purple remote wire. the remote and speaker wires for the sub are securely in the harness at the head unit and Ive traced all the wires back to the sub unit and have no kinks, pinches or cuts. Like i said it worked for a year before this happened. If anyone has knowledge about how much power the head unit puts out when its not programmed that might help. May be as simple as going back to the dealer for reprogramming but not sure they up for the task. or maybe someone know where i can re route this purple wire to get a 12 v signal that only works when the truck is on.
