Discussed on quite a few threads. If you possess two working keys, you can program an additional key yourself. If you don't (and it appears you do not), then a Ford dealer (or someone with a Ford programmer) needs to program the key.

My local ACE hardware can cut the key and program it for $80 out the door. Just a thought.

They did it for my 07 when I bought it used. All they did was put both keys in the ignition (one at a time of course) and turn the keys to run and off multiple times. There is probably a specific number but you could probably find a youtube video of it

I just bought my 2007 and used car place only had one key. Went to locksmith and spent the $80 to get a duplicate programmed, it works fine. I then tried the ignition procedure to program the 2 eBay keys that I had bought for $12 and HomeDepot had cut them for no charge. It gives me an error signal from the red LED and they will not start the truck. Took them back to Depot because the guy said he'd program them if needed. They are not able to copy the programming to the 2 new keys because they are not from a "compatible manufacturer" with their programmer. I plan on taking them to a different locksmith to see if they can program the eBay keys but I just want to let you know that maybe some of those cheap keys might not actually work to start the truck. I'll try to get my other 2 keys programmed and will update when I do.

A local locksmith here sold me a 4 button replacement key and did the programming for $90 CDN. Ford price was $180 + programming.
