Just bought my first F-150, and...
... not two weeks after I brought it home, the battery died. It's a used truck, so I shouldn't be too surprised. I called the dealership (not a wholesale lot) where I bought it, and they said;
a) We aren't going to come out and give you a jump (I'd have been surprised if they did, frankly. But I thought it was worth a shot)
b) We're not going to replace the battery. We will sell you one at our cost.
Way to stand behind your product.
I got a jump from a co-worker, and drove to AutoZone, and got a decent battery.
A couple of take-aways. The battery has a cover/shield over it that's way bigger than the battery. Not sure if that's to make sure that other than OEM batteries will still be able to utilize the cover, or to give it the illusion that the battery is way bigger, and more truck-like than it actually is. The second thing is that the wrench I needed to take off the terminals it an 8mm.
8mm? On a FORD? What's this world coming to?
Not really a big deal in the grand scheme of things, I suppose. It just surprised me.
Love the truck otherwise!

If you bought a used truck, without a warranty, I wouldn't expect a different response from the dealer than what you got. It sure would have been nice if they'd have helped you out, but there's no obligation there.
I took the ramp brackets out of the back of my 2015 shortly after I got it. I was surprised to find out it was metric myself!

most things are metric on these and has been for a while on American vehicles... what year is your truck? i haven't taken the battery out of my 2014 but on my 06 and 08, they had big battery covers but they fit correctly over the stock and replacement batteries i bought (they were large batteries to begin with.)

my truck is an '06.
So, if I were to do the brakes, or change the oil, I'd have to have a mix of metric and standard wrenches?
I have both, of course, but when you look at a bolt, and say "That looks like a 5/8", you'll have to come back with a 5/8" wrench and a 14mm, 15mm, etc.
It's more a pain than anything else.
I'd like to do some basic mods, and before I spend the money, I have a couple questions. Has anyone done the cold air intake? How much does that help? And, what about a Flowmaster (or equivalent) exhaust? Does that help? And then there's the throttle-body spacer. I did that back in the day with a carb spacer, and it seemed to help, but I don't want to mess anything up. Never removed a throttle body before.

listen to Adam here... you have a stock CAI which with your intake/throttle body, its already capable of more air than your engine can handle and if you increase it, you could run into lean situations without a tune anyways... start with a tune!

I'm pretty sure everything's factory. Any suggestions on a decent one? I may still go with the exhaust, because I like the sound. A neighbor has the exact same truck, and I like how his sounds.
Thanks for the advice! Saved me a lot of time & money.

What was your last vehicle from the 70's? They started changing over to metric in the late 80's LMAO.
I think there are only 3 countries on Earth that use the archiac imperial system still, Liberia, Myanmar, and the usa.
It would only make business sense to cater to the "majority"
