I've made Chad aware that the truck is a lease and, honestly, I am interested in keeping the truck after the lease (up in February) if they fix the problems but I won't if they don't fix them. My first post was indeed a rant but i'm willing to at least try to work this case with Chad and Ford in a positve manner to reach a solution. I'll keep this thread updated on how the process goes.

He has started a case with Ford (though I don't know how to check for progress) and said the regional customer service rep/manager would get involved. That was Tuesday.

I still haven't heard from the regional rep as of writing this on early Friday morning, but Chad has PM'd me daily saying he is looped in. I hope the regional rep contacts me >>>TODAY
Can you post a link to the youtube video?

This will solve the water build up issues that cause this problem in the first place.

Who care's if it's a lease? You'll be helping out the next owner too.
In fairness to us owners who have an ecoboost, (and I have the exact truck with 34,640 miles on it) we should not have to drill a thing to let water out. I did not go to school to be a mechanic, no matter how easy it may be to drill the hole. Ford should fix his truck, simple as that. I certainly hope mine doesn't start to do this, but since I live in ND the water will be freezing for the next 9 months or so and won't have to worry about it.

Have a 2013 myself and the shudder happened with less than 1000 mile on the truck. Took it to the dealer TSB applied and it hasnt happened since. Scary to think you have ongoing issues at 36k miles and leaves me wondering if i made the right purchase.

Seems to be some known issues with this ecoboost motor that ford would rather ignore than just fix and move on. I wanted to put a catch can on mine but couldnt get a straight answer from the dealer on if it would void anything.

Good luck!

I had a 2011 fusion sel v6 non ecoboost, the engine kept shutting off on my always going over 45mph, i would always have to pull over and restart... They replaced the carburetor and never happened again.

Default Same problem.

Finally, i had a wrench that stayed on. Took it to dealer and it was something called a molded lead frame. But they could only repair it if it threw a code. Why I have no idea. I was out of town when this happened and Ford had it fixed the same day. I have not had any problems since. Ford even called me 2 weeks later to confirm the truck was fixed and I was happy with the service.

2013 Ecoboost 4x4 Super Cab 36,000 miles. Dead on the road/limp mode/shudder mode 2 times last week. I feel lucky that I didn't cause a pile up on I-94 at rush hour as I had to get into an emergency lane to stop and restart it.

Braeger Ford in Wisconsin won't fix it because they "Can't find a code" to do the spark plug and spark plug boot TSB. Dashboard flashed a big wrench and said "check engine" but somehow that code isn't in the computer. MmmmHmmmm

My lease is up in February....Ford, do you think i'm going to buy this truck or another F150? Hmmm?? What do you think Ford? Think i'm going to buy it?
Do you know the build date? There were some 2013s that were built with the old intercooler design. The trucks with the old design had the exact issue you are talking about. I am not sure if your problems are related to the intercooler, and I don't remember the details as I have moved on to an F350, but they should be google-able.

I had a grinding noise for about 6 seconds on cold start up, took it in and they ended up replacing a whole list of things (cam phasors and timing chain come to mind). It doesn't do it any more, but the engine idles rough.

Hi, I am a senior master certified Ford technician. The fact that it is not storing codes would in my opinion only mean one thing. It's most likely a throttle body issue. i have the same exact truck as you. I have not seen that many problems with these trucks and I'm in a shop that see's over 100 vehicles a day. Does it just shut off or is it stalling like it runs out of fuel? I'm originally from Wisconsin so this definitely interests me. Also Ford Customer Service! Please don't drop the ball here. I see what they do down here and I think they are one of the "best" companies to deal with. I don't get on here much so I'll check back a few times to see what happens.

Funny, I can't remember seeing anywhere the OP saying the truck only had a problem when it was raining or very humid. As many times as it was malfunctioning, I seriously doubt that water in the inter-cooler is the problem.
If the OP is not going to have it towed in the next time it goes into limp mode, or quit driving it, why make the lease payments?
Better yet, take it to bad part of town and leave the key in it.
