Just another dead on the road 2013 EcoBoost that Ford Won't Fix

Just another dead on the road F150 that Ford won't fix.

2013 Ecoboost 4x4 Super Cab 36,000 miles. Dead on the road/limp mode/shudder mode 2 times last week. I feel lucky that I didn't cause a pile up on I-94 at rush hour as I had to get into an emergency lane to stop and restart it.

Braeger Ford in Wisconsin won't fix it because they "Can't find a code" to do the spark plug and spark plug boot TSB. Dashboard flashed a big wrench and said "check engine" but somehow that code isn't in the computer. MmmmHmmmm

My lease is up in February....Ford, do you think i'm going to buy this truck or another F150? Hmmm?? What do you think Ford? Think i'm going to buy it?

I went through the same thing with my 2011 ecoboost. Check engine light was on after stalling out in the rain on I35 and almost causing an 18-wheeler to smash me. Somehow they couldn't find the code and refused to do anything- at 2 different dealerships.

Think I'm brand loyal after that? I bought a dodge haha. I just happen to enjoy being on this forum so here I am.

Hello Chad ?

Hi Chad,
I haven't heard from you today. The truck died on the road 1 time on Saturday and 2 times Sunday. I have PM'd you my information.

I've called the dealer they are very adamant that they can't get a code off the truck when the "wrench" comes up. Their solution is that I should leave the truck as is and have it towed in.

When will I hear from you? This has to be fixed.

Appreciate the feedback.

Luckily I have some leverage here. It's a lease, due up next February. If they don't fix it, i'll just park it, get me a beater and turn it in as it is. They can either fix it then or sell it used to an unsuspecting buyer. Either way the problem is theirs. :D

I'm in the same boat. Luckily mines a lease due up next Feb. If they don't fix it, i'll just park it and let them deal with it on lease end or when they sell it used, deal with the poor person who buys it after. Either way, their problem. I'm just glad I didn't buy it.

If they fix it, I might still be interested but I'm not playing this cat and mouse game with them. I'll turn it in as is.
