I guess that I've been fortunate in 55k miles mine has never shuddered once.

However, Ford needs to address this from the top down and instruct their dealers to do the TSB regardless if a code is set, especially since they know that the computer won't retain the misfire code. Then they need to rectify the problem with it not storing misfire codes in the long term memory.

Have they tried resetting the spark plug gap? This has been found to be more of the issue than the moisture in the intercooler. I had replaced my spark plugs at 50,000 miles myself but never had the shudder issue until after the plug change. So I went back and checked and the specs say a .035 gap but I checked my old plugs and they were closer to .030 gap. Then I remembered that when I put an ATI Procharger on my last truck, the tuner guy told me to reset my plug gaps to .030 to .032 gap because the extra pressure and fuel would actually blow the flame out on plugs with too big a gap. Ever since I changed the gap to .030 and the new plugs I haven't had a misfire or shudder since. Something worth trying before giving up on the truck.

Default Same issues 2011 Platinum 3.5

Exactly the same thing here, check engine light came on and engine went into limp mode, Freedom Ford in Edmonton Alberta said there was no code in memory, charged me $155.00 for that and didn't even test drive it, didn't do the intercooler update per the bulletin I expected because there was no code and only suggested new spark plugs and coil boots after only 59,000km/37,000miles, (thought these plugs were good for 100,000miles?). At will from any speed if I accelerate hard the engine stumbles bad and the engine light will flash on, had they even tested it!
When I went to parts to get the plugs and coil boots myself, first thing the parts guy asked was did I have them do the intercooler update when I mentioned what was happening to it as he had done on his 2013.
Very disappointed at Ford 's service, been buying New Ford trucks since 1991, this is my 9th Ford and maybe my last if this how Ford is dealing with these issues, better be careful Ford lots of competition out there!

Default 2013 ecoboost

Hi all, i too am the owner of the above mentioned vehicle. To date i have not had ecoboost related issues but plenty of other not as serious but nonetheless aggravating and potentially expensive problems. As i am still under warranty i am trying to resolve them before the bumper to bumper warranty expires. Same experience for me at my purchase dealership - 'no fault found' or 'normal operation at this time' were the recurring responses to my issues. I contacted a ford customer service manager and the only help given was to try another dealer to which he provided the contact info. He explained that the dealers are their eyes and ears in the field and that they defer to their assessment of warrantable repairs. So with no other alternative, i booked an appt with the recommended service dept and was shocked to hear that all the issues that were turned away at the previous dealer were scheduled for repair. It took a week and a half to get the work done but they provided me with a rental vehicle at no charge and addressed every issue on my list. Long story short, if your dealer is giving you the runaround, try another and maybe one that is a high volume truck seller. It took a month to get the appt because they had to be able to book all the techs with their area of expertise in one time slot. Im thinking that the previous service dept must've had their oil change guy assess the truck! Just my 2 cents...

I had the exact same thing happen to me. 2012 XLT 46k miles. It just so happened that it died when the mechanic was driving it around. Turns out I had a bad throttle body. It was a really cheap fix compared to what I thought it was going to be.

I have had three EB's: 2011 Titanium F150 SCREW, 2013 Lariat F150 SCREW, and now a 2015 Navigator. The 2011 was a dog, it barely got 14.5 mpg with mostly highway miles. The last two have been fairly good, both getting near 20mgg, but my across the street neighbor has a 2014 F150 SC 4x4 w a 5.0 and gets better millage than I did in my 2013 F150 SCREW 4.x4. If I had it to do over, I would probably get a 5.0 if it were offered in the Nav or Expedition.

I keep reading and watching on YouTube a latent issue with carbon buildup on the exhaust valves as the engine gets older. They recommend periodic treatment with a fuel additive from Chevron. For all that is written concerning the EB 3.5L, I fear the long term durability of the engine will become an issue as they get older with more miles. From day one, the intercooler has been described as a major issue with condensation, which makes sense since the turbo gets pretty hot during its boost cycle. I don't know what the solution will be to get good milage versus adequate horsepower in a power plant. Dodge seems to have made their big 5.7L Hemi's more fuel efficient by adding two more gears to the transmission and by bringing a small but powerful diesel, which has its own diesel issues of ownership which turns me against diesels as a whole.

If the 5.0 is a better engine, and over $2000 cheaper, then If I were to purchase another F150 that is the engine I would spec not the EB 3.5.
