Interior lights don't come on when door opened
#11
Did you check my link? It has trouble shooting chart. You didn't say either way about keyless entry.
It appears it's not just a hardwired link from the door to the lights. The vehicle security module needs to give the lights the signal. It's probably not as simple as looking for a stuck switch.

Since my last post I've been busy on my grandson's car, but I plan to re-read the linked post more thoroughly before putting the door back together.

Yesterday I was testing the door latch mechanism trying to figure out how the rotating part that contacts the switch shaft could raise and lower the shaft. Previously when I pushed in on the door latch to simulate the door closing, then flipped a lever on the latch to simulate the door opening, the rotating part of the latch's height never changed. But, sort of by accident I pushed the latch further back this time. And, the rotating part dropped down about 1/4 inch.
So now I understand how the switch is opened and closed. And, I think I understand why, with the switch wire connector disconnected the interior lights still did not come on. It's because this switch is good, and the problem is elsewhere.
Incidentally, for anyone reading this in the future, to remove the switch, be careful. I accidentally sheared off the protruding tab on the switch that holds it in place. To avoid this, rotate the switch clockwise slowly while pressing down on it. The metal plate that the switch is mounted on has a cutout at about the 2 o'clock position, referencing the starting position as 12 o'clock. The tab lifts up through the cutout.

Fixed
Fixed. Was a rusted splice at back corner of wiring channel under driver's rear door sill cover. Made some pictures to show what I did and put them here: http://www.f150online.com/forums/ele...or-open-7.html. See post #98.
