Normally they will but they aren't going to pay the same hourly bodyshop rates for a DIY'r.

My experience in 22 years of being an agent is the insurance company estimates are actually higher than the body shop estimates if you took it around yourself for bids. I think a lot of body shops would agree.

Both me and my friend are 19...

What you have to remember is that Texas has a deer overpopulation problem. Outside of the cities your looking at an average of about 20 deer per acre (hogs are about the same are well). When I was 16 I was driving home from a movie on a Sunday night. Little two lane Ranch Road...some lady wouldn't turn off her brights. Well I flashed her, still no response. Kept driving then all of the sudden I heard this little thud. Looked out the passenger window just in time to see a deer slide past the truck. Passed the Prius that refused to turn off her brights and looked in the mirror and saw brake lights, then I went around a corner and continued home. Next morning I was headed out to school came around the corner and saw a police car and wrecker pulling that Prius off its roof and out of the ditch. The cop stopped me noticing there was a bunch of blood on one of my headlights (I didn't even bother to check for blood when I had gotten home the night before). He then showed me the doe in the road with the caved in head...which matched my light guard to the T. Apparently the deer had been standing in the lady's lane with its head stretched across the yellow. Since she didn't bother to turn off her highs I never saw the thing and dropped right in front of her. To avoid hitting the deer, the lady swerved and rolled her car in the ditch. Long story short, not my fault and they towed the lady's car off. That was the first time I hit one.

The last time I hit one...January 2, 2011. Overall it was just a bad night. I was on my way home from my ex's after being dumped. Came around one hairpin, the caution signs say 20 but you can actually take them as high as 50, and went down the road a bit more to the next hairpin (maybe 200 yards) and a few deer jump out in front of me. Well I got on the brakes and I missed them...well, mostly. Hit one in the hinds hard enough to spin him around, but the cheeky fellow walked it off. So I continue on my way home. I pull into my neighborhood and start going around a slight bend. A little fawn decided it wanted to see if it could get to point b before my truck did...it made it to point a +10 feet before it went flying. I didn't know fawns could fly, but apparently they can. He must have gone a good 30 feet right into a ditch, I was only doing about 40 when I hit him too. So that was two deer within 5 miles of each other.

Well not knowing who you are insured with it's hard to say - but most insurers will guarantee your repair for as long as you own the vehicle if you use one one their "approved" shops. Doubt they'd do that for a DIY job.
