Good news! Mention you have an XL to a dealer (or the dealer see it) wanting a trade-in value and you'll get the LOWEST value. the STX package doesn't seem to appear in sites like kbb or others for trade valuation. Of course, you can't say its an XLT either.

You would be correct about that one. I don't know when it will happen, but at some point the STX will show up on the books. I know the 2014 STX took a while to be recognized but it is recognized currently.

Same thing happened with my 2015 Mustang GT. It took a solid year before the 50th Anniversary Appearance package showed up on the books. Likewise for the Performance Pack. It took about the same amount of time before that was recognized on KBB books as well.

It'll happen, but the question is when? Lol. It could be a year from now.. it could be 6 months from now. But I can't imagine it taking longer than the former.

In case you haven't figured it out, I am just having a little fun!

Maybe I can "upgrade" my F150 badges with some FX4 jobs. Hehe
I remember when the STX was an add on and not the package, mine was a STX/XLT back in 2003

Those are nice. I will try and modify mine before biting the bullet on them though.

The XL may be the lowest form factor but it's still a Ford truck and beats any pimped out Chevy or Dodge.

What type of custom painting are you planning to do. I have seen people do the plasti-dip and I have also seen the vinyl overlay for emblems etc. I considered doing an overlay for both my emblem and the badges but wasn't sure how the vinyl would hold up. Any experience with that?

Well now that I have these vs the XL emblems it changes the initial thought of how I was going to go about em. I've seen the plasti used with good results, but haven't done personally (although it was part of the initial plan) The vinyl I've only seen on the front and rear emblems, be cool to see one on the fenders.

As for what I'm doing to these: part matte black, part PTM. Backplate and bar I plan on sanding down smooth and painting matte black. The F150 & STX are going to be PTM.

But I'll say.... the backplate is going to be a royal b**ch to sand.
