I love the illuminated Tri-Star on the new Mercedes...a cool little $600 option. Was wondering if something similar for the grille badge would be too over-the-top/cheesy?

To each their own for sure, and while not my cup of tea and I think the Mercedes ones look like a tacky aftermarket add on (I never realized that was a factory option), there is obviously a market for them as people sell them for all vehicles aftermarket. Part of the fun of owning a vehicle is doing things you like to make it your own.

 

Just a word of warning...Illinois, for sure, and other states forbid blue or red lights to be displayed on the front of vehicles on a roadway. I'm sure there are cops that will stop you with this light. Just sayin'

^^ This.... We had a volunteer firefighter that had those blue LED windshield washers (cheap crap Auto zone use to/may still sell) on his Focus. We were at a scene of a auto accident when a NC State Trooper noticed them. He told him if they were not disabled immediately, he would get a ticket for blue lights on a personal vehicle
