If I straightpipe my truck, should I leave the mufflers on?
What's up ladies and gents? I am gonna straightpipe my truck with a cat back exhaust, & thinking about taking the mufflers off. Is this going to make it super loud? I'm looking for a price efficient way to make my truck sound better. Should I just spend a little more money and get MagnaFlow, or flowmaster?

That wouldn't be straight pipe. Straight pipe means no cats, not resonator, no muffler. Literally just a straight pipe.
I personally think straight pipes only sound good on diesels. There are tons of videos on YouTube. Check them out to get some ideas.

Eric, can you elaborate on the modification you are looking into a little more?
Our catback exhausts have been popular for F150s, or there is the option of a muffler swap for the more budget-oriented owners. A completely straight pipe exhaust will be much too aggressive for most people, and have quite a bit of drone which makes it hard to live with daily.

Straight pipe, cat back, leave the mufflers on.
I'm confused.
Straight pipes are pretty damn loud on a V8. Like annoying loud. It can be fun but it usually gets old after a few days/ hours/tickets.

Cycle For Fun and Health
Straight pipe = Yelling
Find a glass pack or performance muffler that will provide a mellow sound.

I have a straight pipe with just the cat, and it's not very loud. It sounds raspy when I rev it up, but otherwise it sounds okay. I'm gonna go to a dual setup if I park it this winter, headers, 2.5" pipe, 2 chamber mufflers, and 3" tails under the rear bumper. That should make the neighbors happy when I come home at midnight!!
