Thanks for the replies. I changed out the cable ends and it still did it. Ended up visiting my mechanic and it turned out to be a bunch of vac leaks. Also changed out the cable ends to beefier ones and it seems to have work. Things idle correctly and when braking nothing bogs down or potentially dies.
