Default Idle is high on start. Quick stomp then normal.

Hi,

I have a 1993 Ford F-150, 5.0, 2WD.

When I start the truck, the idle is high. When I give the accelerator a quick stamp, the idle corrects itself. What causes this?

I have already replaced the Idle Air Control valve.

Sounds like something is sticking if it idles ok after that. Maybe throttle body spring, throttle body shaft or the cable is binding. I'd start with easy stuff and look at TPS or vacuum leak after that.

Could be something as simple as the throttle body needs to be cleaned.
