Default I think tomorrow is finally D day for one of these two

ok don't blast me....I know ive been asking a lot of questions and doing a lot research on new and used,,,I started out wanting a 2013 or 2014 steel body lariat V8,,,,then dealers started offering 1000 under invoice and throwing in bedliners etc....Now keep in mind I really don't "need" a truck but I want one...so then I get 3000 cash from Ford....so heres where im at

1) 2018 Ruby red Lariat V8 screw 4x4 brand new, bedliner and mud flaps NO charge ,,54,900 MSRP...1000 under invoice,,,minus 2000 rebates,,,,minus 3000 Ford offer...so 44k plus tax....

2) 2013 black Lariat, 50k miles, 4x4,,,locking diff, auto 4x4 button...V8 Screw ,,very clean, one local owner,,,28k,,,,this is also a CPO truck...so it seems to me for a guy who doesn't need either one spending 16k less and getting a loaded truck makes more sense....
Plus I wouldnt worry so much about scratching the used one
The new one seems to ride rough compared to the 13 but I assume that's because its new....
I have a 2016 Town and Country with 30k on it I drive for work and camping etc,,,and my wife has a 2016 Escape with 20k we bought new

So 28K for the 2013 with 50K miles? No thanks, but it's your money. My son bought a 2013 4x4 XLT Supercrew with 90K miles and spent 19K even. It was a one owner, all service records ( concrete construction foreman) truck. All serviced locally with receipts out the wazoo. A brand new Lariat for 44K sounds pretty damn good to me!!

501a RWD? Hard to find a Lariat for that price, but as you noted the new one rides rough, and guess what, they don't get better. If you don't like the ride now, you wont like it later. You can try negotiating on the used truck and get it closer to 20K, and I think you will like it better.

What's RWD ??? Rear wheel drive ??? Nope these are both 4x4 but the 13 has the dash button for auto 4x4 AND pull it out and the rear duff locks ,,,,
again checking all the online sales no where do I see a truck like this this for 28 k with CPO warranty,,,
i also looked at a Chevy. HighCountry 2015 CPO loaded nice one owner 35k Miles for 35k,,, it rode great but then I fugured for 9k more i could but the 2018 brand new lariat

so you are saying even after some miles the new ones still ride stiff ??

The new one will ride stiff until you replace the front struts and rear shocks with Bilsteins. Its a well known fact around the 13th gen owners. Like I said, if it were my choice and my money, then the 2018 it is. Seems like you already made up your mind, lol

IMO what I would do (and what I did a year ago) is buy the '13 for 28k. Bought my fully loaded luxury package, super crew 6.6 bed, FX4 w/ factory tow mirrors for 27,500 with under 48k miles on it. Having a fully loaded truck was more important to me than having a new one so the choice was easy. Plus not as much depreciation as a brand new truck. Just my .02

My last truck was a 14 and I loved that truck. Rode nice, drove nice, and was very comfy for me. It got smashed and I replaced it with a new 2016 Lariat. While I like the LED lights, heated steering wheel, power running boards and all the other options, I hate how it rides. The seat was uncomfortable for me until I added 4" of padding to the drivers seat. You really need to drive them back to back on bumpy roads and sit in it for at least 30 minutes or more to make sure you dont get leg cramps.

Not all trucks ride as bad as mine does, but when it hits cracks in the road, I feel them, ripples in the pavement, I feel them, and sharp bumps setup vibrations as if I were driving a drum. It isn't the tires as I have tried different ones 18" and 20", and have Bilstiens on it to get the rear from passing the front over bumpy curves or railroad tracks. This is how poorly my truck rides compared to my last truck, the 14. Spend more time driving each before you decide. For me after having the 16 and putting 40K on it so far, I would much rather have bought a used 14.

No i really haven't made up my mind, just leaning toward the 13 for the price, ride, and not really needing brand new...
