Sorry to hear OP. Can't fully imagine the stress of purchasing a new vehicle and not being happy with it. Especially with the cost of the new F150s .
I'm very happy with my KR, but its a F250 so I don't have any of the new model problems (might end up with the fabled 6.7L problems who knows). A lot of people are happy with their new F150s, some just like you are just about ready to leave ford due to the QC issues.
As for test driving, you shouldn't NEED to test drive it to ensure you get a good working vehicle. The truck should be fully checked and tested prior to even being on the sales lot. There is no excuse for some of the issues that show up magically right after purchase. I don't get to test fire a gun before purchase, take a bite of a cheeseburger, or live in a home before giving them some money. Test driving nice to be able to do, but shouldn't be considered the be all to end all that people make it out to be.
That said I have test driven every vehicle prior to purchase just because I could. This last purchase they let me have the truck all day before purchasing it. Was nice to drive off with it, have it looked at by my dad, friends, and show it off to people. I personally must test drive all used vehicles before purchase, but new ones... I don't feel I should have to test drive it unless its an engine or model Ive never driven before.

I would like to apologize about my post and thinking it's being dumb to not check a truck. I thought the truck in question was a used truck. I agree that a NEW off the dealer lot vehicle should not have to be inspected by the owner. There should be dealer checklists that the dealer does (inspection or prep lists) before delivery.
Still, Unless it's bought sight unseen, I wwuld at least "kick the tires"

I worked as both a technician and new/used car prep for Chrysler dodge jeep. Throughout my experience I saw things like this all the time...the main fault is honestly the sales person....they're so eager to sell sell sell they often harass management to the point they get so frustrated the allow the sale of a vehicle that hasn't gone through our full check yet. Now keep in mind this is not allowed, but like everything else...where there's money there's power and with the two also comes corruption. I say fight to the death and don't be scared to claim lemon law. You deserve another truck or at least proper function of the features you paid for.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear you are not enjoying your new ride. I had mine for about 4 months and have taken a couple of trips with it and no issues so far. Now with that stated I'm the kind of guy that will research, review and test the **** out of things before I make any purchases. Even with all that you can pull off the lot and instantly start having problems, but that's what the warranty is for. The KR's are at the top with the Platinum, Limited and I would say the Raptor is the top, so knowing that they are going to be fully loaded with the latest tech gear which most can simply be turned off. Also I have never had the tail gate open while driving or when I didn't intend it to, but if it did understandably I'd be pissed off to but not at the intire truck. I don't thinks it's a KR issues as much as a truck made on the wrong day. And lastly the tail gate locks with the doors and would have to unlock the doors then engage the tail gate.
Again sorry to hear your greavance with your KR, I hope you get them worked out.

Test drive the cra...
I'm confused at this thread. Maybe I missed something.
Why didn't the OP TEST DRIVE the crap out of this car BEFORE buying it? Why didn't he test EVERY feature before dropping the $$ on this?
Certainly many if not all the issues he is describing were present at the time of purchase. He could have then decided to use those issues as a bargaining tool to lower the price of the truck or walk away from it.
What did I miss on the original post?

If it was so easy to find the defects and faults, Ford would not have had the sales success they've had. They have a new Platinum owner who's been on the forum for months they ordered his 2016, just got it and 2-3 days later he is complaining about how bad the seats are! He read the forums, test drove and still bought a $60k problem.
Point, Ford did not do its do diligence on the 2015/2016 model F-150 trucks. Too many features, too much redesign, to short engineering and plant reconstruction timetables. Everything rushed, but Ford succeeded in getting the trucks built rolling out the doors, and buyers bought at record sales prices and numbers! Now quality, well, Ford is still working the kinks out. Perhaps in 2017 or 2018 the features most bought their trucks for, will actually work, and be reliable? Until then, you'll get a tsb fix here and there. Usually the best quality vehicles are manufactured on the last year of a model run, because they've had time to discover and fix the problems, they chose to fix. Then they move to the new model and the merry go round starts all over again. Timing is everything!

Love my 06 F150.
I bought this truck in August of 2014.
XLT with 29k never seen snow.
Its on it`s 2nd winter with 39k on it now.
Simple truck with just the power options that are needed nothing more.
No LED screen cloth seats 5.4L v8 4x4.
Truck still looks new.
I hope to keep it for a long time.
All the gizmos in the new trucks don`t impress me much.
All the new vehicles have gone electronic crazy.
Don`t get me wrong! The 2015 F150 is beautiful!
